(Un)necessary Tools/Toys

Thanks to a friend *cough* mentioning composting ..... I am trying to invest non-Christmas money on a compost pail for the kitchen and a composter so that I can avoid any future disposal issues while making sure the intestinal system of my dog doesn't put my husband and I in the poor house.

Now if I can just convince the husband the items are worth the cost.

  1. All you really need for your indoor pail is a container with a tight-fitting lid. A Rubbermaid container will work, but so will a coffee can (plus it's extra-green because you're reusing it!)

Outdoor covered containers are good....see ours here http://sme605.blogspot.com/2008/03/darth-vaders-baby-brother.html We got ours for about $25 from the county municipal garage, but they get grants to subsidize the costs. You can accomplish something similar with an old trashcan with some holes punched in. I'm sure a google search will turn up lots of free or cheap ideas for some homemade versions.
